Although there are many different names for these garden buildings, the main difference is the roof. A pergola would usually have an open roof with joists running across to hang items or grow plants across. A gazebo would have a solid roof structure offering a more sheltered spot to sit, and therefore be usable in the more inclement weather we are used to. A veranda is just a roofed structure which is attached or adjacent to the wall of a building, usually with a doorway underneath.
The options for a pergola, gazebo or veranda are only limited by your imagination (and local planning and building regulations). As a timber structure they are normally exempt from needing planning permission as long as height limitations are kept to, so dream up your ideal structure and we will help to make it a reality. There are a number of roofing options for gazebos and verandas, from timber and felt, through to polycarbonates and plastics, or even glass if required.
There are many things you can do to your gazebo, pergola or veranda to make an individual statement. Whether you add a shade sail (see photo), some solar lights, hanging baskets or even a hammock. If you want to hang something heavy just let us know so we can ensure the structure is strong enough once built to take the stress. We can even enclose up to three sides to give you a bit of privacy, or add a low wall or balustrading to give that cosy feel without blocking out the view.
Have you seen the pergola or gazebo of your dreams on sale somewhere? Or do you know what you want but don't know where to get it from? We are happy to assemble your pre-purchased items, or supply and install anything you have found in-store or online. Whether its a simple kit built gazebo or an oak frame structure, we can assemble for you in your chosen location or integrate it into your deck project.
